How I Run My Business During Summer (with Two Kids Out of School and Zero Chill)

Let’s get real summer is not the slow, breezy season people make it out to be when you run a business and have two little ones at home. It’s chaotic, loud, and full of snack requests. But somehow? It works. As a business owner, I’ve learned that summer doesn’t have to derail everything.

With the right support, thoughtful systems, and clear communication, your business can keep moving, and you can even enjoy some of the sunshine.

It's Not Easy… But It's Manageable

My two kids are out of school, which means my house is a little louder, my schedule a little tighter, and my boundaries extra necessary. I'm not going to pretend I have it all perfectly balanced every day—but what I do have is a game plan that works for me.

Here’s what helps:

1. Support Is Non-Negotiable

I have a small but mighty team that helps me stay out of the weeds and in my zone of genius. Whether it’s client work, admin tasks, or content, I lean on them and it makes all the difference.

2. Automation Saves My Sanity

From onboarding to scheduling to email workflows automation keeps things moving without me having to constantly hit "send." I’m not about that burnout life, especially in the summer.

3. Transparent Client Communication

All of my clients know what my summer schedule looks like. They know when I’m available, when I’m offline, and what response times to expect. Clear expectations = happy clients (and a less stressed-out me).

4. Flexible Planning Over Perfection

Sometimes plans shift. Sometimes a park date runs long, or someone spikes a fever. I’ve built flexibility into my calendar so that I can be present for my business and my family. It’s not always perfect, but it’s sustainable.

You Can Enjoy Summer and Stay in CEO Mode

If you’re trying to juggle kids, client work, and popsicle runs, know that you’re not alone and it is possible to do it without burning out. The key is to stop trying to do it all yourself.

Whether you need a second brain, a strong backend, or someone to help you build a business that works in every season, that’s what we do here at Admin Virtuosa.
